More Britten, with Finzi and Holst,

Derby Bach Choir wrapped up the city's Britten celebrations with a performance of his popular cantata St Nicolas and, like Derby Choral Union with Rejoice in the Lamb the week before, they placed it in a context of other twentieth-century English Music (Derby Cathedral, Derby, UK, 23 November, 2013).
Holst's Hymn of Jesus, with Derby Cathedral girl choristers as the semi-chorus, was performed in a reduced orchestration. Although sanctioned by the composer, it doesn't create the same impact as the original...
