Brightly Scored Orchestral music by Jan van der Roost - heard by PAUL SARCICH '... colourful and indeed striking ...'

I first became aware of the music of Belgian composer Jan van der Roost on another Navona CD, Sculpting the Air (NV5852). His aphoristic Chemical Suite for trombone quartet stood out on that disc for its wit, invention, and clever handling of the instruments, all within a modern but listenable style. So it was with curiosity and interest that I approached a disc of his orchestral music.
