Peter Gould ended Derby Cathedral's summer organ series this year (Derby UK, 21 August 2013) with a recital bookended by two big romantic works. Launching into Franck's Chorale No 3 with playing of fire and energy, he both captured the music's turbulence, and laid bare the mastery with which Franck pulls the music's threads together towards the end. Along the way, though, the performance did show up some iffy tuning in part of the instrument...
