'Simon Boccanegra' in Rome impresses GIUSEPPE PENNISI
On 27 November 2012, there was a double debut at Rome's Teatro dell'Opera. The 2012-13 season was inaugurated with a gala evening in the presence of the Head of State, the Prime Minister, the Mayor of Rome and several members of the Italian Government. More importantly for music lovers, Riccardo Muti, Verdi conductor par excellence, had, at the age of seventy-one, his debut with Simon Boccanegra.
