The sun set early on Saturday evening 22 December 2012, leaving only the usual street lights on the main thoroughfares and the many colors of holiday decor to light the side streets. Even Southern Arizona is cold this time of year, but the open doors of Trinity Cathedral invited lucky ticket holders into the warm ambiance of the Phoenix Chorale's sold-out Christmas concert entitled Gaudete (Rejoice). Led by Artistic Director Charles Bruffy, the group sang four versions of this ancient carol which Swedish musician Theodoricus Petri Nylandensis included in his Latin collection of 1582. Modern American composer Steven Sametz arranged the first version and it served to rivet every ear on the music at hand...
