Nothing to Say
Tchaikovsky's 'Nutcracker', reviewed by SUZANNE TORREY
I'll readily admit that I adore ballet and Tchaikovsky and have seen most great companies in the world perform this piece so little wonder that I had been looking forward to this evening for weeks. An orchestra that is among the finest in the world [the Cleveland Orchestra] combined with a company that ranks itself among the best in America [the Joffrey Ballet] should have combined for a spectacular performance. Unfortunately, that was not the case and it was without a doubt the worst I've ever witnessed.
The acoustics in the State Theater [PlayHouseSquare, Cleveland, Ohio, USA, 29 November 2012] didn't help, muffling sound, but I can't lay the blame on that...
