Jenny Lin at Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall,

This season's Sunday morning piano recitals at Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall were opened by Jenny Lin playing to the biggest audience yet (Nottingham, UK, 21 October 2012).
She began with three Preludes and Fugues from Book One of J S Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier, interspersed with three of Shostakovich's Op 87 set. Beside her lucid command of counterpoint she projected some apt characterisation, finding a jazzy tinge to the harmonies in Shostakovich's No 1, and a close affinity between the figuration of Shostakovich's No 2 and Bach's No 5...
