Tonal Clarity Music by Jonathan Little - heard by PATRIC STANDFORD '... beautifully performed ...'

Two of the nine pieces that make up the series of Jonathan Little's large scale Suite of orchestral pieces, The Nine Muses, appear on this CD -- Polyhymnia: Muse of Sacred Poetry and Terpsichore: Muse of Dance, although the latter performance was already issued on disc in 2008. They are described as 'epic orchestral tone pictures', and Little has already received awards this year from the Performing Right Society Music Foundation and a Bliss Trust Composer Bursary to support the composition of the third in the series, Erato: Muse of Love Poetry. It is a huge ambition, and it is to be hoped that his creative stamina lasts the course; he is already approaching fifty -- but Australians are not short on stamina! Born in Melbourne in 1965, he has been occupied almost as much with academic organization and writing as with composition and with the establishment of academic courses in contemporary music in UK, Italy and South Africa...
