Hyperion continues apace with its wonderful explorations of the English song repertoire with this latest offering from mezzo soprano Alice Coote and the indefatigable pianist Graham Johnson. The disc contains work by several famous names of the past including Percy Grainger, Edward Elgar, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Gustav Holst.
I was particularly taken by the great beauty of Roger Quilter's 'Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal' and 'The Power of Love' where Coote really exceeds herself in glorious singing...
