This Quartz CD Upon Entering a Painting introduces six separate and different keyboard works by John McCabe, based on the composer's own mastery of the instrument. McCabe's creative imagination, bearing in mind his own professional pianistic accompaniments, came to light, as he explains, in 1963 with a set of variations. This does not only concern form in choice of subject matter, but came as a result of his own pictorial imagination to stimulate his visionary treatment of the range and tonal properties in bringing the instrument into perspective as a driving force.
