The Naxos release of Peter Maxwell Davies' Symphony No 2 with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra -- the composer conducting -- started out at Studio 7, New Broadcasting House, Manchester in September 1993. It was a Lambourne Productions (Orpington, Kent) recording on their Collins Classics label CD14032 (1994).
This year (2012) Naxos has resurrected the recording together with St Thomas Wake on CD 8.572349 (or for MP3 download).
The Symphony was written (1980) as a commission to mark the centenary of the Boston Syymphony Orchestra founded in 1881 by American philanthropist Henry Lee Higginson...
