Klaggerud, Petrenko and the Philharmonia,
heard by BILL NEWMAN
I have seen and heard Vasily Petrenko at the BBC Proms with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and attended both of the Szymanowski concerts at Wigmore Hall where Henning Kraggerud appeared at the express request of the organizer Piotr Anderszewski. Pairing them together really took my breath away. This Royal Festival Hall performance [London UK, 26 February 2012] of the Sibelius Violin Concerto was the most superb that I have heard since Jascha Heifetz played it many years back at the same venue under the baton of Paul Paray...
