Nikolai Demidenko plays Schubert at London's Wigmore Hall, heard by BILL NEWMAN
To say that I was eagerly awaiting this recital is an understatement. I first heard Nikolai Demidenko perform the very last Schubert Sonata in B flat major, D 960, aeons ago, and I was disappointed. It was very slow and cumbersome, and didn't hang together. My comments in the press afterwards made me rather unpopular, but I was honest in my opinions...
