On 5 November 2011, The Metropolitan Opera transmitted Richard Wagner's opera Siegfried live to cinemas around the world. That in itself is a marvel, but Siegfried is an opera that demands incredible technical expertise. It's often hard to make everything needed for this opera work, but on Saturday all the technical and human aspects of this opera performed as planned. The vertical planks that were the basis of the designer Carl Fillion's set first rolled over, and then became the shadow-dappled tree trunks of the primeval forest in which director Robert Lepage set his characters...
