On the cut-throat world of piano teaching,
with Classical Music agony aunt ALICE McVEIGH
Hi Alice,
I was flipping through Libretto (the well-written, well-presented magazine of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) when I noticed a letter from Sereena Sorrel, a recent piano graduate of the Royal College of Music, mentioning that she is annoyed in her 'very urban' area by people without professional qualifications charging for piano lessons, and 'undercutting what a qualified music teacher would reasonably expect to charge.'
They'd have a job making an impact in Hampstead, where the top piano teachers are much sought-after, with long waiting-lists!..
