A flyer accompanying this release describes Howard, a sixty-three-year-old Melbourne-born pianist, as 'a towering musical genius and one of the most prodigious pianists working today'.
He attended Monash University, Melbourne, studying English, however by the end of first year he was invited to lecture post-graduate students on advanced counterpoint and theory. His own post-graduate music studies were completed in Italy with Busoni pupil Guido Agosti (1901-1989).
Howard, domiciled in London since 1972, became President of the British Liszt Society when his predecessor Louis Kentner (1905-1987) died. He is also a recipient of the American Liszt Society's Medal of Honor...
