In the spring of 2011, I had the honor of interviewing Los Angeles Opera Music Director James Conlon in his office. Outside on the plaza, the Jacaranda trees were just beginning to bud. Inside, the Maestro's assistant, William Gorin, escorted me down a hall lined with intriguing memorabilia to the Music Director's office. The decor was made up of fascinating posters recalling Maestro Conlon's appearances with world famous orchestras and opera companies.
