A Great Occasion

The Derby Roundhouse debut as a concert hall,
described by MIKE WHEELER

Like its namesake in Camden, North London, Derby's Roundhouse is a restored and converted railway shed. Re-opened in 2009, it now finds itself in the middle of the Derby College campus. This was its debut as a concert hall (Derby, UK, 9 April 2011), and Derby Bach Choir and conductor Richard Roddis made sure it was a memorable occasion with a performance of Walton's Belshazzar's Feast for which they were joined by singers from other choirs in the region -- the Derwent Singers, Sitwell Singers, Derby Choral Union, Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir, and Sinfonia Chorale and In Accord from Nottingham -- plus Nottingham Symphony Orchestra...
