This year's free concert for full season orchestral concert subscribers at Derby's Assembly Rooms was a flute and piano recital by Lisa Friend and Mark Kinkaid (Darwin Suite, Derby, UK, 29 March 2011).
There was a strong French bias to the programme, with the Fantasies by Fauré and Saint-Saëns, Chaminade's Concertino (replacing the advertised transcription of Schubert's Arpeggione Sonata -- I can't imagine how that would have worked) and Debussy's Syrinx.
The recital opened with the single-movement C minor Sonata by Donizetti...
