ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING
Kotaro Fukuma's performances of Schumann, Chopin and Liszt amaze BILL NEWMAN
Whoever you hear perform anywhere in the world in the future, remember the twenty-nine-year-old Tokyo-born pianist Kotaro Fukuma -- he is sensational!! He is also among the distinguished collection of outstanding pianist talents handled by Lisa Peacock Concert Management Ltd. When I mentioned them to her, she replied modestly, 'Yes, they're good, aren't they!' The programme writeup [Wigmore Hall, London UK, 11 January 2011] is two columns long, but among his many appearances and prizes I have chosen his four years of study (2001-5) at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris with Bruno Rigutto and Marie-Françoise Bucquet, then further studies in Berlin and Lake Como, Italy. Special pianists he has worked with are Bashkirov, Staier, Merlet, Fleisher, de Larrocha, Pires, Ciccolini, Goode and Uchida -- quite a gathering!..
