The Israel Piano Trio at London's Wigmore Hall, enjoyed by MALCOLM MILLER
The beguiling duet of violin and cello over flowing piano textures in the slow movement of Clara Schumann's Piano Trio formed a memorable encore to a superbly engaging programme by the Israel Piano Trio, violinist Menahem Breuer, cellist Hillel Zori, and pianist Roglit Ishay, at a well filled Wigmore Hall on 9 January 2011. The original Israel Piano Trio made their London début over thirty years ago, featuring cellist Marcel Bergman and the late Alexander Volkov as pianist; on the strength of the present concert, the recently reconfigured ensemble promises to be equally exciting.
The highlights of their recital were their performances of the Brahms Trio Op 8 in B major, and the Variations on a Hebrew Melody by Paul Ben-Haim...
