Haydn's Creation,
reviewed by MIKE WHEELER

 

Derby Bach Choir were on excellent form in this performance of Haydn's The Creation (Derby Cathedral, Derby, UK, 20 November 2010). Their vigorous singing, and conductor Richard Roddis' spirited direction, kept the choral numbers stylishly crisp and lively, with a sense of fun which was not at all out of place in this, surely the least earnest of the great oratorios.

The soloists were a somewhat mixed group...
