A centenary performance of Elgar's Violin Concerto, heard by ROBERT ANDERSON
While Elgar was still an interval whisky away, we preluded at the London Symphony Orchestra concert on 10 November 2010 with Emily Howard's Solar and the Mendelssohn 'Scottish' Symphony. At the Barbican I was on a level with the two percussion players of the first work and with Mendelssohn's timpanist. I suppose we now agree that the sun is more or less static...
