BILL NEWMAN talks to
all four members of the Wihan Quartet
I first interviewed the Wihan Quartet not long after they won the London String Quartet Competition. They had played at the Barbican, and were staying at one of the high rise flats near by. Subsequently, our conversations appeared in Musical Opinion magazine. Various discussions took place following London concerts, and we met up again at the Prague Spring Festival some ten years back. In recent years their Wigmore Hall concerts have been my main source of interest, although I missed out on just one, when unannounced track work took place on the London Underground's Northern Line and I found myself stranded in Hampstead...
