Derby Bach Choir's came up with a bold, ambitious programme for their latest concert (Derby Cathedral, Derby, UK, 13 March 2010), bookended by two contrasting Te Deum settings. The second of Haydn's two came across with a suitable degree of healthy vigour, while the choir's vivid handling of the ceremonial character of Walton's Coronation Te Deum was not allowed to overshadow the work's contemplative heart. Derby Cathedral's fresh-voiced girl choristers added a layer of radiance to the overall sound...
