An Amazing Cast
New York Metropolitan Opera's
'Der Rosenkavalier' in HD,
reviewed by MARIA NOCKIN
It is interesting to note that the forty-year-old traditional production of Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier by Nathaniel Merrill and Robert O'Hearn still looks beautiful onstage and when photographed in high definition. It is well designed and has been carefully protected by the opera company's stage crew.

The performance on 9 January 2010 may well have been the best 'movie opera' of the current crop....
